The next phase of technical work is complete for Next Generation Hydro and we are pleased to be sharing it at our upcoming Public Speaker Event and Open House.

The Yukon Hydroelectric Power Planning Directive identifies seven criteria for assessing potential hydro projects in Yukon as part of Next Generation Hydro. Directive Criteria #1  is to  evaluate the expected growth in residential, commercial and industrial demand for electrical power in Yukon.” Midgard Consulting has completed a Draft Technical Paper to fulfill this directive criteria. The Yukon Electrical Energy and Capacity Need Forecast (2035-2065) will be released at the upcoming Speaker event January 29, from 7-9 PM at the Westmark Whitehorse. Come and learn more about what the forecast scenarios and what electrical demand could look like 20-50 years from now.

In addition, the 2nd part of the Site Screening Inventory is now complete. This report will be released at the public Open House January 30th, from 12:30-3:00 PM at the Westmark Whitehorse. Learn more about the sites being considered and the next level of research that has been completed on each site. Read the results of the Site Screening Inventory Part 1 (2015-01-12) – FINAL Document
