Next Generation Hydro was officially launched by the Honourable Scott Kent, Minister for Yukon Development Corporation at the Opportunities North Conference Oct 6-8, 2014. The technical team, led by Midgard Consulting and the engagement team, led by Tipping Point Strategies, have begun their work.
The technical team has been busy reviewing over 200 hydro sites in Yukon. They are using the directive criteria and a set of technical criteria to reduce this to a short list of potential sites for recommendation to the YDC Board. The engagement team is busy planning a series of workshops, speaker series and other tools to keep the public and stakeholders engaged in this process. First Nations will be partners in Next Generation Hydro. YDC is working to engage them in this developing this long-term vision for Yukon’s energy future.
